All pages
Document of all pages ranging from early development to finished illustrations.
These are the finished pages of the book. Some I have completed, some are works in progress and some are recent additions that I haven’t started yet. I have made changes where necessary to aid transitions in the story help to clarify the narrative. I am going to chose 6 of the double page spreads that can be used as an overview of the books narrative. These pages could be used to pitch the idea to publishers but in this case I want to chose pages that demonstrate the synthesis of research and practical work.

Case studies chapter
I have reworked my case studies chapter after receiving feedback from the draft hand in. I had concentrated too much on trying to explain the narrative of the book. In trying to explain the narrative clearly it took up too much of the chapter as was not linked explicitly enough to the theory. I have now concentrated on explaining how the book relates to specific pieces of research and reflecting on how effective the practical work is at exploring the subject. Because the research is based on theories relating to high quality narrative fiction and how children’s books can influence attitudes the practical work is designed to attempt to create a children’s book and gain an insight into how the theories affect the creative process. I have addressed to difficulties ancountered while trying to apply complexity, realism and ambiguity to a children’s book.
Imaginative play page
These two pages are from the section of the book designed to explore how imaginative play can make use of counterfactuals to help children assimilate ideas from fictional narratives into their real life. The main characters imaginary friend suggests outrageous ways they could catch the giant worms and the main character thinks about how those ideas would play out based on her pre existing knowledge.
